Top 10 New Years Resolutions – Are They Yours Also?

Well & truly into 2014 now… How many of the ‘Top 10 Resolutions’ have you stuck to?
I’m happy to say I have so far, yes I know it’s only a month into 2014 but at least I’m making a very conscious effort! Here’s some of mine;
  • to get amazingly fit and lean like a disciplined athlete
  •  to be a walking billboard of health with my diet intake
  • to spring clean every cupboard and drawer in my home
  • to organize and find a ‘folder home’ for every piece of paperwork on my office desk of chaos
  • to pamper myself  & relax more doing the things I really want to be doing
  • continue to learn to be the best person I can be
  • finish the projects I start
  • learn at least one new trait properly – Pilates is mine
  •  spend more time with those who really matter, less with those who don’t!

Hmmm they sound a lot like the Resolutions I made last year too…
  I’m not alone on my Resolutions, most of us have the exact same ones the whole world over. Here’s a list of the ‘Top 10 New Year Resolutions’ made each year according to International University studies. Surprise Surprise.. most of my resolutions are on the list.
Top 10 New Year Resolutions:
1. Spend More Time with Family & Friends Recent polls conducted show 50% of people have vowed to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends this year. 2. Fit in Fitness Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Its no wonder this is high on the list of New Year Resolutions. Exercise keeps you healthy and makes you look and feel better. 3. Lose the Bulge With obesity an increasing problem in Australia it’s no surprise to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program. 4. Quit Smoking Even if you’ve tried to quit before and failed, don’t let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good. (Yours truly is part of that statistic and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done! My advice, ‘don’t ever quit trying to quit this horrible smelly life taking habit’ )  5. Enjoy Life More Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of us, it’s no wonder “enjoying life more” has become a popular resolution in recent years. It’s an important step to a happier and healthier you. Bring balance to your body, mind and soul and get out there and try something new! *A beach walk, going fishing, Yoga and Pilates usually works for me. 6. Quit Drinking Many people use the New Year as an incentive to finally stop drinking. There’s not always a need for drastic lifestyle changes all at once so you can always just taper down gradually, or even learn to moderate their drinking. 7. Get Out of Debt Don’t let constant media reports about the state of the economy become more of a stress than it needs to. Join the millions of Aussies who have resolved to spend this year getting a handle on their finances. *One step at a time is the key so you don’t get overwhelmed by the big picture. 8. Learn Something New Make a career change, learn a new language, take a course or read a book, challenging yourself could be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year’s resolutions to keep. *I’m looking into doing Pilates Instructor course because I’m a Pilates addict. ‘Tight Tummy, First Ass Class’ I like to call it. 9. Help Others A popular, non-selfish New Year’s resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Giving up nothing but a little of your time to help others will make you feel great and give you a sense of contribution. 10. Get Organised On just about every New Year resolution top ten list, organisation can be a very reasonable goal. Whether its getting your home or office organized, being able to find things and getting rid of clutter is a wonderful de-stressing remedy. Make that start now. ** Do that one chore you’ve been putting off, pay that one bill that’s been sitting on your desk and see what a great sense of achievement & relief you feel ** – See more at: http://tania.com.au/tzblogandshop/tanias-top-10-new-years-resolutions/#sthash.EWI3Pp40.dpuf
